Changing Scene

This portion of the newsletter is devoted to keeping you informed about changes among our colleagues such as moves to new positions and/or institutions, newly hired colleagues, professional recognition honors, retirements, deaths, etc. To include an announcement in “The Changing Scene,” send a note with the key facts to Marne Einarson (mke3@cornell.edu).

The National Student Clearinghouse has hired Edward J. Torpy as its assistant director of research services. Mr. Torpy began using SPSS Statistics software over 20 years ago and has spent the last six years as a contract trainer for SPSS. He begins his new position at the Clearinghouse May 26, 2009.

Donald Quirk writes: I’m taking early retirement from my position as Director of the Office of Institutional Research and Planning at McHenry County College at the end of this week. I want to thank all of my I-AIR colleagues for the professional support and the fellowship you have shared with me over the last 16 years. While I will no longer be with the college, I do plan to remain involved in professional research activities. For those who keep me in your contacts phone book, I can still be reached, either on my cell at (312) 505-1498 or by email at dquirkie@gmail.com. Good bye and best wishes to all of you.
